Oh No, My Southern Pride Smoker Burner Won't Ignite!
We all love our Southern Pride smokers, but like any other cooker they sometimes fail!
Whether you are a restaurant, catering company, or even just an individual one of the scariest things you can experience is prepping to cook only to find out your burner fails to ignite!

So what do you do?
We are here to help with your Southern Pride smoker troubleshooting!
If you find yourself in such a situation that your burner fails to ignite we are happy to provide you with the steps to diagnose what is causing the failure!
- Check hi-voltage cable rubber boot for signs of melting or buckling. Take proctive action to shield cable and boot from excessive temperatures
- Buy LP burner igniter
- Buy NAT burner igniter
- Buy hi-voltage lead wire
- Buy 24v Transformer
- Buy hi-limit controller
- Buy Mechanical Thermostat
- Buy CV Control Digital Thermostat
- Buy C&H Control Digital Thermostat
- Buy Burner Blower Motor
Pilot burner ignites?
- Check electrical connections between control module, and gas valve are firm.
- Check for 24v across PV-M/V terminal wires on control module.
If voltage is correct replace gas valve, if not, replace control module.
- Buy NAT gas valve
- Buy LP gas valve
- Buy burner control module
- Check continuity of ignition cable, and ground wire
- Check flame rod
- Check electrical connections between flame rod, and insulator
- Check for cracked ceramic flame rod insulation.
- Check that pilot flame covers flame rod, and is steady and blue.
- Adjust flame rod.
- If problem persists replace control module
‐ Check electrical connections between module and gas control. If okay, replace gas control or gas control operator.
- Buy LP burner igniter
- Buy NAT burner igniter
- Buy burner control module
- Check continuity of ignition cable, and ground wire.
NOTE: If ground is poor or erratic, shutdowns may occur occasionally even though operation is normal at time of checkout.
- Check that pilot flame covers flame rod, and is steady and blue.
- If problem persists, replace the module
- Buy burner control module
‐ Remove MV lead at module; if valve closes, recheck temperature controller and
wiring; if not, replace gas control.
