Why won't my Southern Pride smoker ignite?

If your Southern Pride smoker will not ignite, check these in order: (1) Verify gas supply is on and pressure is adequate (Natural gas: 4.5" W.C. minimum; LP: 11.0" W.C. minimum). (2) Inspect the igniter electrode for cracks or carbon buildup — clean or replace the igniter (Part# 582011 for natural gas, Part# 582015 for LP). (3) Check the ignition control module (Part# 582019) — listen for clicking. (4) Inspect the igniter high voltage lead wire (Part# 582012) for damage. (5) Check the 120v to 24v transformer (Part# 582005). For persistent ignition failures, call free tech support at (409) 886-8626.

Why is my Southern Pride smoker's convection fan not working?

A failed convection fan is typically caused by a failed motor, seized bearings, or a tripped circuit breaker. First, check the circuit breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the smoker circuit. Next, listen for the motor — if you hear humming but no rotation, the capacitor (Part# 351012) may have failed. If the motor is completely silent, the convection motor (Part# 522004) may need replacement. Check the fan blade (Part# 532004 or 532011 depending on model) for obstruction. Do not operate the smoker with a non-functioning convection fan — it will cause uneven temperatures and potential overheating.

Why is there excessive smoke coming from my Southern Pride smoker doors?

Excessive smoke escaping from smoker doors indicates worn or damaged door gaskets that no longer create an airtight seal. Inspect gaskets for hardening, cracking, or compression set — gaskets should be pliable and resilient. Also check the door hinge (Part# 870003) and door latch (Part# 771001) alignment — a misaligned door creates gaps. In some cases, the door frame itself may have warped from heat stress. Replace gaskets first (Part# 070001 or 070002) as they are the most common cause and least expensive fix.

What does it mean when my Southern Pride thermostat shows an error code?

Southern Pride digital thermostats display error codes when the thermocouple reads out of range. An "E1" or temperature sensor error typically means the thermocouple (Part# 435001) has failed and needs replacement — this is a common wear item. If the display shows a temperature far above or below the set point, the thermostat control board itself (Part# 432001) may need replacement. For Cook & Hold models (Part# 431020), consult the specific C&H troubleshooting guide in your owner's manual. Call (409) 886-8626 for diagnostic support.

Why is my Southern Pride rotisserie drive system not rotating?

If the rotisserie is not turning, check these components in order: (1) The 4-amp circuit breaker (Part# 442006) for the drive system — it protects against overload and may have tripped. (2) The shock relay breaker (Part# 442011) which trips if racks are overloaded. (3) The gearmotor (Part# 351001 or 351004 depending on model) for failure — gearmotors typically last 5-10 years with proper lubrication. (4) Drive chain tension — a loose chain will slip off sprockets. (5) Rotisserie wheel bearings (Part# 332001 or 333001) for seizure. Never run product on a non-rotating rotisserie.

If you want to make both of your smoke elements engage at the same time rather than 4hrs apart disconnect terminals 3 and 4 from the 3rd 10amp relay from the transformer, and then make a jumper wire from terminal 3 and 4 on the 2nd 10amp relay to the corresponding terminals on the 3rd relay.
